چکیده
This paper describes the wetting by water of monolayer fibns formed bythe spontaneous assemblyof fong-cfifr;1*anethioG, HS(CH;rJX, onto gold surfaces, w\e1e X = carboxylgJ,.e.$-o-sph93ate' 5-tetra?olo, f -iiiarroto, or 2-imidrioto. 'Mon6iayers weie also generated from mixtures of HS(CHdtd ald HS(CHs)ra CH" ffe wetting by water of the single-component and the mixed surfaces was examined as a function of pH. The surfaies-uniformly becam6 more wettable at values of pH at which the interfacial groups were chiiged. Surfaces rich in carboxylic acid groups exhibited gn unelpected behavior: the surfaces were less *.ttibl. at values ofpU between-3 and ? tfran at lower or higher valuts 9f pH. We attribute this unerpected behavior to conformational changes of the terminal parts of the chain including the carborylate groups

The recent interest and excitement in graphene has also opened up a pandora's box of other two-dimensional (2D) materials and material combinations which are now beginning to come to the fore. One family of these emerging 2D materials is transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). So far there is very limited understanding on the wetting behavior of "monolayer" TMD materials. In this study, we syn...

The study of drying and wetting cycles in soils is important due to their effects on plant nutrition and soil fertility as well as environmental issues. Therefore, a laboratory experiment was set up with a completely randomized design and factorial arrangement in three replications to identify the influence of wetting and drying cycles in combination with or without application of organic acids...
متن کاملBehenic Acid Monolayer and Bilayer Assemblies- A Study of Concanavalin A (Con A) Adsorption and its Interaction with Dextran Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectroscopy and Microscopy
Deposition of behenic acid (B.A) mono and bilayers onto gold coated surfaces was performed by Langmuir-Blodget dip-casting technique. Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) and ellipsometry methods were employed for investigation of the monolayer and bilayer films. The adsorption of the biologically important molecule Concanavalin A (Con A) from bulk solution to these monolayers and bilayers as we...
